31 Houseplants You Can Grow From Cuttings

Botanical name  : Philodendron

Cut the stem and place the cutting in a glass of clean water. When a good root network is established, the cutting is ready to settle into a pot filled with potting soil. You can also start taking philodendron cuttings in the ground, in a similar way.

2. Tradescantia

You can easily propagate plants in the  genus Tradescantia  simply by cutting a branch and submerging it in water or potting medium. It will form roots in 2-4 weeks.

3. Umbrella Tree

Indoor Schefflera varieties can be multiplied from stem cuttings. Plant them 1 to 2 inches deep in potting mix and place the pot in a bright, moist spot.

Simply cut a healthy stem from the plant and dip its tip into rooting hormone. Place it an inch deep in the pot filled with potting mix and wait for the new plant to develop.

5. Snake plant

You can multiply your favorite variety of snake plant from pups or leaf cuttings. It is easy!

You can grow it from stem cuttings without any difficulty. Remove the cuttings just below the nodes closest to the bottom of the stems and place them in a potting mix.

7. Crotona

To propagate croton from cuttings, select a 3- to 4-inch-long stem with at least three sets of leaves. Place the stem in a pot filled with a light potting mix or water. You can also cut a leaf with a part of the stem attached and propagate it in water.

Multiply this good luck plant by cutting stems 4 to 5 inches in size and propagate in a pot filled with well-draining succulent mix or water.

Use a sharp shear to cut above the node or a swollen part of the stem that is 4 to 5 inches in size with a few upper leaves attached and place in a pot filled with potting mix.

Cut a stem of English ivy that has at least two sets of leaves. Dip the end part in rooting hormone and push it into a pot filled with soil or place it in a glass of water.

Cut a stem 3 to 5 inches long with at least two leaves. You can plant this in a glass of water until the roots develop about 2-3 inches long.

You can also pot the cuttings in a pot with 3 parts perlite, 3 parts coco peat, and 1 part vermiculite.

13. Black-eyed Susan Vine

Botanical name  : Thunbergia alata

Take a stem 6 to 8 inches long without the lower leaves and root it in a glass filled with cool water. When you notice new roots, transplant them into a pot filled with potting mix.

You can propagate it via short-stemmed cuttings by placing them on moist sphagnum moss. When the segments take root, transfer them to a pot filled with orchid bark mix.

Take 4- to 6-inch-long cuttings during the growing season from early spring through fall and place them in a pot filled with sandy soil.
